Catch the spirit of plein air painting and the June 2012 Easels in Frederick event with a series of casual, FREE, Art Talks and workshops scheduled February through June throughout Downtown Frederick. The ART TALK Café is designed to education, inspire, and promote discussion among collectors, artists, and anyone just curious about plein air painting and Art.
Past and Present
The kickoff event of the 2012 Art Talk Cafe series! Easels in Frederick and the Historical Society of Frederick County collaborate to present a free exhibit of area plein air artists' paintings of historic places in Frederick City and County alongside historic images of the same location. The Past is indeed Present.

5:30, Enjoy Walt Bartman's compelling talk on color and art in the Visitor Center's auditorium. Visitors are encouraged to explore the wealth of history of Frederick displayed at the Center. Refreshments available.

Plein air class for painters ages 8-18 taught by plein air artist, Jackie Jouvenal. During this time, young artists can also enter Kids Paint Out-stop by The Historical Society and pick up a map of the Paint Out boundary area.

Jason Tako, award-winning Pennsylvania plein air artist will demonstrate plein air painting and the techniques he uses to give his work a look and feel that is refreshing and unique. Jason uses a soft, limited palette that usually consists of the three primary colors plus white.
