    About Easels
    in Frederick

Easels in Frederick is a juried plein-air painting event organized and run by an all-volunteer committee and sponsored by the Frederick Arts Council. It is designed to promote the creation and sale of high-quality art amid the rich historic charm of downtown Frederick, Maryland, and the surrounding countryside. By bringing art out of the studio and the gallery and into the community, the event:

    • Fosters an appreciation of plein-air painting among adults and children.
    • Increases local and regional awareness of art-related businesses and artists as business people in Frederick's economic and social environment.
    • Raises Frederick's profile as an arts destination.

    The Frederick Arts Council

Easels in Frederick is a partner of the Frederick Arts Council. The collaboration is designed to promote unity within the arts community, market the arts outside the city's perimeter, and attract new visitors. The Frederick Arts Council is a 501(c)(3) organization, making contributions and ticket purchases tax deductible within the limits of the law.
