Kenn Erroll Backhaus is the acceptance juror; he selected the 30 competing artists and 5 alternates to participate in the 2011 Easels in Frederick event.
Following his early career as an award-winning commercial designer and illustrator, in 1984, Kenn decided to devote more time to his passion for the fine art of outdoor painting. His paintings have been juried into many shows and honored with numerous Best of Show awards and distinctions. He regularly serves as an acceptance juror and awards judge for shows around the country. Kenn is a member of the Northwest Rendezvous Group, a Master Signature Member of the Oil Painters of America, and a Signature member and past president of the Plein-Air Painters of America. Kenn also was part of the PBS series Plein Air, Painting the American Landscape and is now a host artist for a new high-definition, 13–part series, Passport & Palette™ , which represents the next generation of art education on public television. The Awards Juror

Nancy Tankersley is the awards juror.
Nancy likes to paint in the studio and as a plein air painter. Her work focuses on "capturing the land and the people as they are today—ordinary subjects that can make extraordinary paintings." In addition to exhibiting in many one-artist shows, Nancy was one of two Eastern Shore painters to be part of the 2009 Making Art: Exploration in Process in Easton, Maryland, an exhibit featuring notable American artists from the 19th and 20th centuries and works borrowed from major museums, including the National Gallery of Art and the Brandywine River Museum. She is a member of the Washington Society of Landscape Painters, an artist member of the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters, and the American Impressionist Society. A founding member of Plein Air Easton!, Nancy continues to serve on the executive board as an artist and advisor and continues to foster the growth of plein air painting in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Nancy and her husband Carl own the South Street Art Gallery in Easton, Maryland. In 2009, she cofounded the Eastern Studio and School, where she serves as director and also teaches classes.
